Thurles Shopping Centre

Construction is underway for a considerable extension to Blackrock Developments Thurles Shopping Centre.  The development which will cost up to €30 million will consist of a new refurbished Dunnes extending to 5,574sqm and a five-screen cinema with 20 new mall units, in addition to the existing 12. The centre will benefit from a new multi-storey car park, which will provide in excess of 500 parking spaces. The scheme has a 30-minute drive-time catchment of 70,000 people.The extension is due to open in spring 2009. There will be 100 constructions jobs created during the build period, with a further 200 upon the scheme's opening.
There is very strong interest from national retailers, with terms now agreed with a cinema and a pharmacy operator and agents for the scheme Bannon are currently in final negotiations on eight of the new units of the Phase II mall.

Ballinasloe Town Centre, Ballinasloe, Co. Galway

Blackrock Developments & Harte Holdings have recently been granted planning permission with Ballinasloe Town Council for a €50 million retail development in the heart of Ballinasloe.  The 10,850 sq. m. scheme includes plans for a 6,410 sq. m. anchor store with 26 retail units comprising 3,845 sq. m. of retail space.

The development is planned for a 2.65 hectare site located just off Main Street with access via River View.  The development is set to become a natural extension of Main Street and will provide some much needed car parking in the centre of the town with the provision of over 300 new surface car spaces.

The proposed addition of a major shopping centre will copper-fasten the great strides forward the town is now making and will also provide a major boost to the local economy with the creation of up to 400 jobs during the construction phase and as many as 250 full and part-time positions when the shopping centre open for trade. 

This development is expected to commence construction in Spring 2009.

Blackrock Developments have lodged planning permission for a Neighbourhood Centre Development on a site of 1.655 ha. on the Mitchelstown Road, Cahir, Co. Tipperary.
